Professor Admir Masic (together with Mike Tarkanian (DMSE)) is leading a summer program on  in which MIT undergraduates conduct three weeks of fieldwork in Rome, Sermoneta, and Pompeii as fieldwork component of the 1.034/3.094 Materials in Human Experience class. The program involves real-world analyses of ancient infrastructures and materials and focuses on teaching ways to improve the sustainability of the future through the study of ancient successes.
